SOLIN, a town near the estuary of the Jadro river, 5 km northeast of Split. It consists of three separate parts: 1) the central part (Mitnica) at the intersection of the roads to Split, Trogir and Klis (the residential and business part of Solin), 2) Majdan, situated in a small valley of the upper basin of the Jadro, with the cement factory, and 3) Donja Strana (Sveti Kajo), a part 1.5 km to the west of the central part, situated on the road to Trogir, with the cement factory and industrial plants. The ruins of the ancient Salona are located between Donja Strana and the central part of Solin. Solin lies at the main road (M11.03, E71) Split - Sinj.
